Sheila Harsdorf was appointed Secretary of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) by Governor Walker in November 2017. Harsdorf served in the state legislature representing northwestern Wisconsin for more than 25 years, first as a State Representative for the 30thAssembly District and most recently as a State Senator for the 10thSenate District. During this time, she was a member of numerous committees, including the Joint Committee on Finance and Senate Committee on Agriculture, Small Business and Tourism. Prior to her service in the legislature, Harsdorf dairy farmed full-time with her dad and brother. She earned her bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Minnesota and has been an active member of the agricultural community, volunteering and serving as a board member for various organizations.
