Kristi Kelly is recognized as one of the country’s 50 most powerful women in cannabis, and one of the top 100 political cannabis influencers in the country.  She is the executive director of Marijuana Industry Group, Colorado’s oldest, largest, most impactful and most diverse trade association for licensed marijuana businesses. At MIG, she also served as vice chair of the board.  She recently launched Root Strategies, a national consulting company focused on cannabis strategies and business services. Kristi initially entered the cannabis space as an operator at the beginning of legal, taxed and regulated cannabis.  She was an owner, and remains an investor in a group of marijuana cultivation, manufacturing and dispensary business in the Denver area that launched in 2009, where she was also COO until 2015.  She is a founding board member of the Fourth Corner Credit Union, the world’s first marijuana financial institution.  She is the founding trustee of CannAbility Foundation, a patient advocacy and resource network for families of children living with conditions and disabilities that can be helped by cannabis.  She currently sits on the Governor’s Marijuana Education Oversight Committee and the Colorado Task Force for Drunk and Impaired Driving.  She was profiled in Breaking the Grass Ceiling: Women, Weed & Business and recognized as one of 2016’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Cannabis (#12) in the U.S. by Cannabis Business Executive. Her story has been featured in The Washington Post, 60 Minutes, Bloomberg/Businessweek, The New York Times, and more. Kristi has a BA in Journalism/Advertising from the University of Maryland College Park Honors Program
