Jeff Porter is the National Animal Manure and Nutrient Management Team Leader located at the East National Technology Support Center in Greensboro, NC. His main responsibilities include reviewing and evaluating innovative technologies in manure management, working with states to assist in the transfer of these technologies to help carry out the NRCS mission and serving as the agency lead on the Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan (CNMP) update process which focuses on policy, procedure and training. After working a short time for the Agricultural Research Service, he transferred to NRCS (SCS at the time) and worked in various Midwestern states, including Michigan, Missouri, and Iowa before accepting a position with the Animal Manure and Nutrient Management Team (formerly Manure Management Team) in September 2006. Jeff grew up on a small farm in southern Indiana. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Purdue University in Agricultural Engineering.
